Drone shows

Image
Drone shows are an emergent use case, distinct from other drone applications like filming and photography. This use case typically calls for multiple drones flying simultaneously, often in formation and often synchronized and deeply integrated with light or projection effects, stage effects, or music. Verity Studios systems are advanced show automation systems designed for live performances that enable the control of one to potentially thousands of autonomous multirotors or other small flying machines. Drone at Your Doorstep

Image
Industrial design studio PriestmanGoode has unveiled its vision for a fleet of urban delivery drones. Called Dragonfly, PriestmanGoode's concept is for an integrated system where autonomous drones become the primary service for mail deliveries in cities.  PriestmanGoode imagines the delivery drones working in conjunction with autonomous barges, which would act as charging stations and distribution hubs. After picking up parcels from these mobile hubs, the drones would deliver packages by docking on landing pads placed on the roofs and sides of buildings. Source

Drone against Drone

Airspace Systems Company develops high-speed drone with a shooting net gun to catch other drones. The device on which Airspace works will be autonomous - it will be able to navigate on its own and recognize the "enemy" drones using computer vision and radar / lidar systems in order to catch them in the network and deliver them to the right place, count in the company. It is assumed that such a drone will fly two to three times faster than the best consumer drones. In 2016, Airspace showed development testing - then the drone could not independently track the other drones. In addition, it became known that the US authorities are preparing a bill that allows the police to catch civilian drones.

Drone Confiscation After Illegal Drone Launch in National Park Area

Image
The decision of a South African resident not to comply with the rules of the Kruger National Park and launching his quadrocopter into the air cost him dearly - the administration imposed a lifetime ban on visiting the park. The guest, whose name remained unknown to the public, launched a quadrocopter and flew over a group of baboons headed for the watering hole. Two visitors to the park, watching the hippos at the Nhalanganini dam, saw the man get out of the car and launch a drone for aerial shooting. They immediately reported this to the security services and soon the offender was caught. The man explained his behavior by the fact that he did not study the rules and did not know about the prohibition to use drones. When asked about the purpose of launching the quadrocopter, he said that he shot a movie about life in the wild. South African was convicted of violating the law on the protection of protected areas, prohibiting the flight of any apparatus at an altitude of less than...

1218 Quadrocopters Intel Synchronized Dance at the Opening of the Olympics In Pyeongchang

Image
On February 9, the opening ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea took place. One of the most memorable parts of the show was the dance of hundreds of luminous quadrocopters in the sky. The show of quadrocopters was organized by Intel, which has been working for several years on technologies for creating and managing a drones swarm. Intel engineers can simultaneously launch 1218 Shooting Star Mini quadrocopters into the air and make them dance synchronously. Drones formed in the sky a giant silhouette of a snowboarder, and then lined up in the symbol of the Olympics - a figure of five rings. This show set a new world record for the number of drones, simultaneously raised in the sky. It is reported that the record will go to the Guinness Book of Records. During the last record set in Germany in 2016, Intel managed to raise 500 drones in the air.
