Drone Confiscation After Illegal Drone Launch in National Park Area
The decision of a South African resident not to comply with the rules of the Kruger National Park and launching his quadrocopter into the air cost him dearly - the administration imposed a lifetime ban on visiting the park.
The guest, whose name remained unknown to the public, launched a quadrocopter and flew over a group of baboons headed for the watering hole. Two visitors to the park, watching the hippos at the Nhalanganini dam, saw the man get out of the car and launch a drone for aerial shooting. They immediately reported this to the security services and soon the offender was caught.
The man explained his behavior by the fact that he did not study the rules and did not know about the prohibition to use drones. When asked about the purpose of launching the quadrocopter, he said that he shot a movie about life in the wild.
South African was convicted of violating the law on the protection of protected areas, prohibiting the flight of any apparatus at an altitude of less than 2000 meters above any national park. His quadrocopter was confiscated, and since then the entrance to the national parks of the country has been forbidden for centuries.
